250 g plain flour 250 g sugar250 g butter, cut into pieces 4 eggs3 tbsp milk 2 tbsp cocoa powder1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla extract

Add all the ingredients except the cocoa powder into a bowl and beat well, preferably with an electric whisk.Split the mixture into two and add the cocoa powder into one of the halves. Beat well.Grease and line an 8โณ (20 cm) baking tin. Place blobs of one of the mixtures in the tin, then fill in the gaps with blobs of the other mixture.Use the handle of a spoon to swirl the batter to create the marbling effect.Bake at 180ยฐC for 40-45 minutes. Check with a skewer that the cake is cooked and leave to cool for 10 minutes. Remove from the tin and allow to cool completely.#Tips You can also make this cake in a loaf tin to give a deeper cake.
