Ingredients

  • 250 g plain flour 250 g sugar
  • 250 g butter, cut into pieces 4 eggs
  • 3 tbsp milk 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  • Add all the ingredients except the cocoa powder into a bowl and beat well, preferably with an electric whisk.
  • Split the mixture into two and add the cocoa powder into one of the halves. Beat well.
  • Grease and line an 8โ€ณ (20 cm) baking tin. Place blobs of one of the mixtures in the tin, then fill in the gaps with blobs of the other mixture.
  • Use the handle of a spoon to swirl the batter to create the marbling effect.
  • Bake at 180ยฐC for 40-45 minutes. Check with a skewer that the cake is cooked and leave to cool for 10 minutes. Remove from the tin and allow to cool completely.
