Drumstick Veg Biryani

Ingredients

  • 250 g Basmati Rice
  • 3 Drumsticks
  • 2 Medium Potatoes
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 Red dry chillies
  • 1 Black Cardamom
  • 2 Green Cardamoms
  • 4 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 Bay leave
  • 300 ml water
  • to taste Salt

Directions

  • First of all wash and peel the potatoes. Diced the potatoes in to quarters. Prepare the drumsticks. As shown in the pic below. Snap in halves and get 8 little sticks out of 2 drumstick.
  • In pressure cooker, heat up 2 tbsp oil. Once heated up, add bay leaves, cardamoms, cumin seeds, whole dry red chillies and black peppercorn. Cook until aromatic.
  • Add potatoes, chopped ginger and drumsticks. Cook until potatoes are soft (80%cooked).
  • Add garam masala, turmeric, sambar masala and salt. Cook it for further 5 mins.
  • Add washed Basmati Rice and water. Cover it with the lid until you hear 2 whistles.
  • If you don’t have the pressure cooker. Use any other pots. Making sure you double the quantity of water. If it’s one cup of rice, you will 2 cups of water in the pot.
  • Once done, serve it into the bowl with some salad.
